On the ride to Natchez, I follow I-10 to Baton Rouge, and slam into a thunderstorm on the Interstate in rush hour, a bad combination. In the fun I miss the turn off for US 61, and end up on the wrong side of the Mississippi. I return by crossing the old bridge, from that vantage point Baton Rouge appears to be one vast petrochemical plant. It makes me feel bad for Janus, busted flat and waiting for a train.
