Kansas is strikingly beautiful, and I enjoy the ride. Just before Smith Center I pass the geographic center of the 48 contiguous states. The middle of everywhere U.S.A., and, some might say, the middle of nowhere U.S.A. The sign says 1425 miles to New York, which sounds about right, my trip meter reads 1578. I'm now in shooting distance of Denver, and expect to arrive tomorrow, a day early.
