I crest the western shoulder of the great Rio Grande Rift, plunge down into the Albuquerque graben, and rise to cross the impressive Precambrian Sandia Mountains with their unconformable cap of Permian limestone, and then back into the Mesozoic. A thunderstorm rolls through late in the day.
