I've done the geology along this stretch multiple times, so concentrate on making time on I-40, running at 80 mph and enjoying the view. Crossing the Colorado Plateau, Meteor Crater is visible to the south. The road descends, and in eastern Arizona and western New Mexico the red rocks of the Mesozoic dominate the landscape.
