July 06 Reedsport to Brookings OR (176/5057 mi) - The McCullough Bridge on US 101 spanning Coos Bay, Oregon, was completed in 1936, largely funded by the Public Works Administration. The ends of the bridge are marked by pedestrian plazas, detailed with Art Moderne motifs. Riding a motorcycle gives a connection to the road and its history. Many such iconic American roads and bridges were built in the 1930s, by investments in public works projects during the Great Depression.
