The institute is famous for excavating "Sue", the best-preserved Tyrannosaurus rex known. Sue was confiscated by the FBI, and subsequently auctioned off by the landowner to the Field Museum in Chicago for $7.6 million, the highest price ever paid for a fossil. A replica of Sue's skull is at lower left. The T-rex "Stan", at upper left, is another well known specimen excavated by the institute, with about 30 replicas on display worldwide.
