Golden is also famously home, since 1874, to the Coors Brewing Company, which operates the largest brewery facility in the world here. In 1916 Colorado became a dry state, and 17,391 gallons of beer were poured into Clear Creek. One of President Roosevelt's first acts in 1933 was to push through the 21st Amendment, and beer became legal again. Clear Creek is at a high water stage, and is not clear, it is well known for numerous destructive floods.
