The Cherohala Skyway opened in 1996, at a cost of over 100 million dollars. The 43 mile long National Scenic Byway is a classic motorcycle ride. It runs from Tellico Plains, Tennessee, to Robbinsville, North Carolina, and passes through the Cherokee and Nantahala National Forests, hence the name "Cherohala".
