I leave Santa Rosa in the morning and make time to Amarillo, Texas. Tucumcari mesa, an outlier of Mezozoic strata, is the last topography before the flat plains of the Texas Panhandle. Near Amarillo I cross a huge wind farm, with what must be thousands of wind blades. I learn that Google has purchased a wind farm here, possibly the one I just rode through.
