South of Bixby Creek Bridge I stop at Nepenthe, perched above the Pacific, named after a mythical drug of forgetfulness. Nepethe was a travelers' outpost when it opened in 1949, "the rich, the famous, the infamous, the beatniks, the Bohemians and the hippies, all came to Nepenthe".
