While the ride through San Francisco traffic is bracing, it is nice to get south of the city. Most of the traffic along the California coast follows US Route 101, which merges with CA 1 in San Francisco. I resume sightseeing mode, and enjoy the salt air and the views, such as these roosting pelicans.
